Welcome to The Westborough School   Welcome to TheWestborough School   Welcome to The Westborough School

It is with great sadness that I have to inform you of the death of our Chair of Governors, Mary Lubel, who died on the 12th January 2012, following a stroke.

Mary has been involved with Westborough for over 30 years.  The love and commitment she showed to the children, their families and the staff was truly outstanding.

She wore many hats and was involved in a wide range of public life activities.  She served as a local Councillor for many years becoming the Chair of Essex Education Committee.  Mary battled for the weak, vulnerable and marginalised.  She was brave in standing up for what she believed was right.

The world of Education can be a very unstable place.  As a governor Mary was a strong, steadying, sensible influence.  She never lost sight of the needs of the children and their families and never allowed political expediency to influence decisions that impacted on the lives of the people she served.

As her friends and colleagues we benefitted from her wisdom, insight and compassion.  Her tireless energy inspired and exhausted us!  She loved the diversity of life and lived hers to the full up to the very end.

She was a total inspiration to us all.  Our thoughts are with her family at this time.
